SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Ellen Henehan of Barrington, who passed away on February 6, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Henehan was born on October 1, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan; her parents were Martin and Loretta Burg; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Henehan graduated from Mundelein College and Northwestern University, where she earned her master's degree in music education; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Henehan taught music in junior high schools in Harvey and West Chicago and taught piano lessons in her home for 25 years; she also served as a church organist at St. Anne's Parish in Barrington for 38 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Henehan was a past president of the American Association of University Women and the Friends of the Barrington Area Library; she was also active with the Barrington Women's Club, the St. Anne's Women's Club, the American Guild of Organists, the Barrington Chamber of Commerce, and the Homeowner's Association of Lake Barrington Shores; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Henehan enjoyed playing tennis and golf with her friends in Arlington Heights, Palatine, and Lake Barrington Shores; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Henehan is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert; her children, Martin (Ingrid) Henehan, Rosanne Henehan, and Sharon (David) Walter; her grandchildren, Emmet and Liam Henehan and Ashley and Dylan Walter; and her brother, Bill (Betty) Burg; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mary Ellen Henehan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Ellen Henehan as an expression of our sympathy.
