SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert C. Morfey of Thomasboro, who
4passed away on March 2, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born April 4, 1934, in Champaign, the son
6of Charles and Eva Everence Morfey; he married Shirley Morrison
7on August 7, 1955, in Potomac; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He graduated from Potomac High School with the
9Class of 1952; he owned and operated Thomasboro Hardware for
10many years; he served as the Thomasboro village treasurer for
1145 years; he served for 40 years on the Thomasboro Fire
12Protection District, where he served as the chief for 21 years;
13he was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Thomasboro and a
14past member of the TIA; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He helped to organize the Thomasboro Fire Museum;
16he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed attending
17many of the ball games; he also loved to travel; he also liked
18to tinker with small engines; and
 
19    WHEREAS, His greatest joy was spending time with his family
20and many friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Morfey is survived by his wife, Shirley;
2his sons, Bruce Morfey, Brian Morfey, Bill (Tammy) Morfey, and
3Mark (Buffy) Morfey; his grandchildren, Kassie and Mason
4Morfey, Kacie (Stephen) Chauncey, and Kara Watson; his
5great-grandchildren, Mackinsay and Forrest; his sisters, Joan
6Hamblin and Mary Ann (Duane) Morgan; and several nieces and a
7nephew; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of Robert Morfey; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Robert Morfey as a symbol of our
14sincere sympathy.
