SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert C. Morfey of Thomasboro, who passed away on March 2, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born April 4, 1934, in Champaign, the son of Charles and Eva Everence Morfey; he married Shirley Morrison on August 7, 1955, in Potomac; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Potomac High School with the Class of 1952; he owned and operated Thomasboro Hardware for many years; he served as the Thomasboro village treasurer for 45 years; he served for 40 years on the Thomasboro Fire Protection District, where he served as the chief for 21 years; he was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Thomasboro and a past member of the TIA; and

WHEREAS, He helped to organize the Thomasboro Fire Museum; he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed attending many of the ball games; he also loved to travel; he also liked to tinker with small engines; and

WHEREAS, His greatest joy was spending time with his family and many friends; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morfey is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Bruce Morfey, Brian Morfey, Bill (Tammy) Morfey, and Mark (Buffy) Morfey; his grandchildren, Kassie and Mason Morfey, Kacie (Stephen) Chauncey, and Kara Watson; his great-grandchildren, Mackinsay and Forrest; his sisters, Joan Hamblin and Mary Ann (Duane) Morgan; and several nieces and a nephew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert Morfey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Morfey as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
