SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of A.C. "Junie" Bartulis, who passed away on
4January 31, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis was born on December 9, 1927, in
6Benld; his parents were August Bartulis, Sr. and Margaret
7(Baltruszis) Bartulis; he married Mary Bartulis on July 12,
81952, in Gillespie; and
 
9    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis served his country with pride and
10distinction as a member of the United States Army shortly after
11World War II and again during the Korean Conflict; and
 
12    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis was a lifelong resident of Benld; he
13owned and managed the Wayside Garage and Service Station; and
 
14    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis had a long and distinguished career
15in politics; he began his political career in 1966 as the
16Macoupin County Treasurer; in November of 1970, he won a seat
17in the old 53rd District of the Illinois House of
18Representatives, where he served from 1971 to 1973; after
19redistricting, he represented the 49th House District, and from
201973 to 1975, served as Senator in the 49th District; after an
21electoral defeat in 1974, he regained his seat in the 49th

1House District in 1976; after another electoral defeat in 1978,
2he ran again in 1980 and won, remaining in the position until
31983; and
 
4    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis was involved in several business
5organizations and the American Legion Post 0554 of Carlinville,
6where he was a member for the past 37 years; and
 
7    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis enjoyed racing stock cars in the
8downstate stock car circuits; and
 
9    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis was preceded in death by his parents
10and his brother, Vince Bartulis; and
 
11    WHEREAS, A.C. Bartulis is survived by his wife, Mary; his
12daughters, Gaye Bartulis and Lisa Bartulis; and his
13granddaughter, Sierra August Bartulis; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16his family and friends, the passing of A.C. "Junie" Bartulis;
17and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of A.C. Bartulis as an expression of
20our sympathy.
