SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Willie Mae Walker; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker was born March 7, 1921 in Little
5Rock, Arkansas; her parents were Willie and Beatrice Morgan;
6she married Lee Roy Walker on May 9, 1953; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker received her formal education in
8the East Saint Louis Public School system and graduated from
9Lincoln High School; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After she got married, Willie Mae Walker relocated
11with her husband to New York City, where she enjoyed visiting
12her family and friends; she later returned to East St. Louis,
13where she found much pleasure in taking care of and nurturing
14children; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker accepted Christ as her personal
16Savior and her faith was strong; she was a devoted member of
17New Bethlehem Baptist Church and served on the Mother's Board;
18she faithfully attended Sunday School, imparted wisdom, and
19took pleasure in Bible readings; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker was preceded in death by her

1parents and her siblings, Bishop Eddie Morgan, James Morgan,
2Gene Morgan, Dr. Otis Morgan, Leroy Morgan, and Beatrice
3Morgan; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker is survived by her brothers,
5Nathaniel Morgan, Leslie Morgan, and Samuel (Gwendolyn)
6Morgan; his sister, Clarice (Rudolph) Lewis; her godchildren,
7Cheryl Sanders and John (Agnes) Sanders (children, John and
8Jynea); and her many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and
9friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12her family and friends, the passing of Willie Mae Walker; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Willie Mae Walker as an expression
16of our sympathy.
