SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Willie Mae Walker; and

WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker was born March 7, 1921 in Little Rock, Arkansas; her parents were Willie and Beatrice Morgan; she married Lee Roy Walker on May 9, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker received her formal education in the East Saint Louis Public School system and graduated from Lincoln High School; and

WHEREAS, After she got married, Willie Mae Walker relocated with her husband to New York City, where she enjoyed visiting her family and friends; she later returned to East St. Louis, where she found much pleasure in taking care of and nurturing children; and

WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker accepted Christ as her personal Savior and her faith was strong; she was a devoted member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church and served on the Mother's Board; she faithfully attended Sunday School, imparted wisdom, and took pleasure in Bible readings; and

WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Bishop Eddie Morgan, James Morgan, Gene Morgan, Dr. Otis Morgan, Leroy Morgan, and Beatrice Morgan; and

WHEREAS, Willie Mae Walker is survived by her brothers, Nathaniel Morgan, Leslie Morgan, and Samuel (Gwendolyn) Morgan; his sister, Clarice (Rudolph) Lewis; her godchildren, Cheryl Sanders and John (Agnes) Sanders (children, John and Jynea); and her many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Willie Mae Walker; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Willie Mae Walker as an expression of our sympathy.
