SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dennis A. "Denny" Yost, who passed away on November 1, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was born on July 2, 1937, in Alton; he was the son of Fred and Evelyn (Scott) Yost; he married the former Mary A. O'Neal on December 6, 1980, in Godfrey; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost retired from the United States Navy with the rank of lieutenant after 4 tours of duty in Vietnam and over 600 combat missions as a Radar Intercept Officer in F-4B Phantom jet fighters; he was also a graduate and instructor at the Navy's Top Gun Fighter School; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his service to our country, Dennis Yost was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 24 Air Medals, and a Navy Commendation Medal with two Stars and Combat "V"; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was an operator at Amoco in Wood River, Whiting, Indiana, and Casper, Wyoming, from 1976 until his retirement in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was of the Catholic faith; he was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308, the National Rifle Association, the Austin Healey Club, and the Retired Officers Association; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost enjoyed cooking, woodworking, winemaking, mechanics, and lawn care; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Yost is survived by his wife, Mary; his children and their spouses, Lisa Sanders, Renee and Doug Myers, Nicki and Tony Lopez, Dale Alan and Sarah Davis, Kim and Matt DuBois, and Danny and Sheila Davis; his grandchildren, Alisha, Ben, Shaun, Luke, Chris, Dennis, Laci, Nick, Zach, Garrett, Stephanie, Monica, Heather, Misty, Justin, Deric, Dru, and Kylee; his 6 great-grandchildren; his brothers and sister-in-law, Larry and Susan Yost and Douglas Yost; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dennis A. "Denny" Yost; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dennis Yost as an expression of our sympathy.
