SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Clyde Charles Bryant of Chicago, who
4passed away on September 16, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in Chicago on May 29, 1927, to Mr. and
6Mrs. Charles Byrant; he attended John D. Shoop School, Van
7Vlissingen Elementary School, and graduated from Edward Tilden
8Technical High School; he later attended Wilson Junior College;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army for 2 years,
11receiving the Victory Medal and an Honorable Discharge; and
 
12    WHEREAS, He married Mildred Durr on June 14, 1959; he
13served as an apprentice at Cunio Press for 20 years; in 1961,
14he became a United States postal worker, retiring after 32
15years of service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He attended Mount Joy Baptist Church, serving as a
17Sunday School Superintendent and a Sunday School teacher; he
18also volunteered for the Good News Club Ministry, the Older
19Boys and Girls Conference, Vacation Bible School, and the
20Sunday School Superintendent's Council; and

1    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles
2Bryant and Mary Jones; his stepmother, Lillian Bryant; and his
3brothers, Herbert and Herman Bryant; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Clyde Bryant is survived by his wife, Mildred; his
5daughters, Diane (Jamie) Sampson and Alicia (Oumaru) Swary; his
6grandsons, James, Jacob, and Joseph Sampson; his sister,
7Ernestine (George) Dixon; his brothers, Earl (Florence) and
8Preston (Sandra) Bryant; his brother-in-law, Lawyer Durr; his
9sisters-in-law, Shirley Hammonds, Estelle Bryant, and Ira
10Durr; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Clyde Bryant; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Clyde Bryant as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
