SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael Terrel Banks, Jr., who passed away on August 12, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. was born on July 18, 1972, in Chicago; his parents were Horace and Florine Coney Banks; he married Nicole Starks on October 6, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age; he was a member of the Great Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Robbins; and

WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. attended Thomas Brenan Elementary School in Chicago before graduating from Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn in 1990; during school, he was an accomplished basketball player who earned numerous trophies and awards; and

WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. was employed with the Chicago Transit Authority for over 20 years; he began his career as a car serviceman before becoming certified to work as a repairman; he subsequently became a Leader with the CTA; and

WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. enjoyed good food, spending time with his family and friends, and making people laugh; and

WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Donald; and

WHEREAS, Michael Banks, Jr. is survived by his loving wife, Nicole; his daughters, Sharrel Howard and Mikayla; his son, Michael Jr.; his parents; his siblings, Robin Banks, Carolyn (Sherman) Banks-Bomman, Daryon (Irene Robinson) Banks, and Brian (Eulonda); his godparents, Roy and Velma King; his father-in-law, Handsome Carson; his mother-in-law, Barbara Starks; his sisters-in-law, Brandy (Lloyd) Henderson, Colleen Downey, and Glenyes Davis; his brothers-in-law, Mahseyah, Nahvee, Ahmaria, and Marchello; his nieces, Shavone, Angela, Shanica, Shatoria, and Daryona; his nephews, Tyrone, Curtis, and Daryon, Jr.; his four great-nieces; his great-nephew; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Michael Terrel Banks, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Banks, Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
