SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Anne Bannor of Evanston, who passed away
4on June 15, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born Anne Elizabeth Wedgworth in Chicago;
6she was the youngest of 2 children; her father had taught
7English in the Philippines and her mother had moved to Chicago
8from Georgia; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After skipping several grades, she entered
10Amundsen High School at age 12; upon graduation, she took
11classes at Wright Junior College and then at Northwestern
12University; it was during her studies that she met Norman
13Bannor through a friend; the couple married in November 1943;
14they were fortunate to have 5 children; and
 
15    WHEREAS, When their youngest child was about 4, Anne Bannor
16went back to school and received a bachelor's degree from
17Chicago Teachers College (now Northeastern Illinois
18University) in the 1960s; she went on to get her master's
19degree as well; for nearly 3 decades, she taught at several
20Chicago public schools, including Brentano and Budlong; she
21later became associate principal at Harlan High School on the
22South Side and principal at Bridge Elementary School; and

1    WHEREAS, She was a world traveler and visited every
2continent in the world, except for Antarctica; her adventures
3included animal encounters in the Great Smoky Mountains and in
4India; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was married 58 years to the late Norman Lee
6Bannor, Sr.; and
 
7    WHEREAS, She is survived by her children, Lee Bannor, Scott
8Bannor, Todd Bannor, Marcy Bannor, and Brett Bannor; her
9brother, William Wedgworth; her 5 grandchildren; and her 2
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13her family and friends, the passing of Anne Bannor; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Anne Bannor as a symbol of our
17sincere sympathy.
