SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy S. Hardbeck of Godfrey, who passed away on April 26, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She was born on November 30, 1927, in rural Alton, the daughter of Edward Sr. and Sarah Voumard; she received her undergraduate degree from Shurtleff College and her master's degree in education from Washington University; and

WHEREAS, She taught all eight grades in a one-room country school and later taught third grade in Fosterburg; she was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, On August 1, 1954, she married Donald Hardbeck at the Salem Presbyterian Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Roy Voumard; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Hardback is survived by her husband, Dr. Donald Hardbeck; her daughters, Donna Hardbeck, Beth Bradley and husband, Sean, Janet Hardbeck, and Karen Arensmann and her husband, Frank; her grandchildren, Phillip Goodrich, Glen Bradley and Siobhan Bradley, and Amelia Arensmann; and her sisters, Helen Moore and Violet Borchelt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy Hardbeck; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Hardbeck as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
