SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV, who passed away May 20, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Officer Wortham had recently returned from his second tour of duty in Iraq while serving with the Wisconsin Army National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was appointed to the Chicago Police Department and served faithfully for nearly three years and was assigned to the Englewood District; and

WHEREAS, Officer Wortham previously served with the Evergreen Park Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was a second generation officer with the Chicago Police Department, preceded by his father who retired at the rank of sergeant; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Police Department has retired Officer Wortham IV's star, numbered 6181; and

WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was a proud member of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7; and

WHEREAS, Officer Wortham leaves behind his sister and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Officer Wortham dedicated and gave his life to protecting and serving the people of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and Fraternal Order of Police brothers and sisters, the passing of Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Officer Wortham as an expression of our sympathy.
