SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Perry of Collinsville, who was killed in the line of duty on March 8, 2011; and

WHEREAS, John Perry served with the United States Marshals Service for nearly 10 years; he was well-known by his fellow marshals as a humorous and upbeat person and a fine officer; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his career with the Marshals Service, John Perry served as a Madison County probation officer for 16 years; as a probation officer, he spent most of his time in adult probation, with a small stint in juvenile; he excelled on the "intensive probation unit", composed of armed probation officers who are given the highest-risk offenders, violent felons, and those deemed most likely to reoffend; and

WHEREAS, John Perry served as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois and the nation at large; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John Perry; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Perry as an expression of our sympathy.
