SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Eugene O. Adkins of Carlinville, who passed away on November 21, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, to Eugene Monroe and Audrie Barringer Adkins; he graduated from Saint Louis University with a degree in biology and chemistry in 1949; he was in the U.S. Army Air Corps and worked for Anheuser-Busch in the New York area; he married Claire Ann Kiely on August 2, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins settled in Carlinville and was a farmer and co-owner of Adkins & Marko Construction; he was involved in several community ventures, including the Lions Club, Jaycees, the Macoupin 912 group, the Ss. Mary and Joseph Building Committee, and the boards of Carlinville Public Schools and Farmers and Merchants Bank; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins enjoyed spending time with his wife, playing racquetball, tennis, having coffee with the "Macoupin County Yacht Club", and spending time with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins is survived by his children, Barry Adkins, Chris (Bob) Mathias, David (Gail), and Jim (Ellen) Adkins; his grandchildren, Lexy and Audrie Adkins, Steve, Claire, Mary Beth, and Susie Mathias, Jeff and Greg Adkins, and Ian and Brennan Adkins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugene Adkins, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene Adkins as a symbol of our deepest sympathy.
