SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/15-315.5 new

Amends the Permits Article of the Size, Weight, Load and Permits Chapter of the Illinois Vehicle Code by providing that a municipality, township, county, or other unit of local government may not impose a fee for a permit in excess of the fees provided for in that Article. Limits the concurrent exercise of home rule powers.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding Section 15-315.5 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/15-315.5 new)

Sec. 15-315.5. Fee limits. A municipality, township, county, or other unit of local government may not impose a fee for a permit in excess of the fees provided for in this Article III. This Section is a limitation under subsection (i) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution on the concurrent exercise by home rule units of powers and functions exercised by the State.
