SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 5/5-222

Amends the Departments of State Government Law. Provides that, on the effective date of the amendatory Act, the office of Director of the Illinois Power Agency shall be considered vacant. Provides that, on and after the effective date of the amendatory Act, the Director of the Illinois Power Agency shall be appointed by the Governor by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by changing Section 5-222 as follows:

(20 ILCS 5/5-222)

Sec. 5-222. Director of the Illinois Power Agency. The Director of the Illinois Power Agency must have at least 15 years of combined experience in the electric industry, electricity policy, or electricity markets and must possess: (i) general knowledge of the responsibilities of being a director, (ii) managerial experience, and (iii) an advanced degree in economics, risk management, law, business, engineering, or a related field.

On the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, the office of Director of the Illinois Power Agency shall be considered vacant. On and after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, the Director shall be appointed by the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, and shall meet the qualifications set forth in this Section.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
