HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marine Corporal Conner Thomas Lowry, who died while serving his country in Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Lowry's passing is deeply mourned and his memory is forever kept alive by his loving family, many friends, and countless members of the Chicago Southside community who knew Conner as a spirited, intelligent, and loving young man who often thought of others before himself; and

WHEREAS, The tragic loss of Corporal Lowry is most deeply felt by his family, including his mother, Modie Lavin; his late father, Thomas Lowry; his siblings, Grace Lavin, Margot Lavin, Brian Lavin, Kim Lavin, and Charley Lavin; his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Lowry was born, raised, and was deeply rooted in a Southside Irish community, a community which loved and embraced him; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Lowry was a graduate of St. John Fisher Grammar School in 2002 and Brother Rice High School in 2006; and

WHEREAS, As a high school football player, he was noted by coaches for his personal dedication as well as a commitment to making his team better; and

WHEREAS, He was known for having a charismatic personality, a great sense of humor, and the ability to brighten the day of the people who he encountered; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Marine Corporal Conner Thomas Lowry; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Marine Corporal Conner Thomas Lowry and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marine Corporal Conner Thomas Lowry as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
