HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael Richard Goers on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, He is a senior at Hoffman Estates High School and is member of Boy Scout Troop 497 out of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg; he plans on being a geologist and has been accepted by Illinois State University and Eastern Michigan University, both of which have strong geology and geography programs; and

WHEREAS, He is very athletic and has been on soccer, basketball, and baseball teams from the age of 5 until high school; once in high school, he decided to join the cross country team in the fall of his freshman year and immediately became one of their fastest runners; he competed on the cross country team all 4 years of high school, serving as the team captain his senior year; and

WHEREAS, He was one of the fastest runners on the track team throughout high school and is an avid swimmer; he has worked at Seascape Waterpark in Hoffman Estates and Prairie Stone indoor pool for the last 2 summers, earning money for college; and

WHEREAS, His Eagle project was the building of an outdoor sanctuary at Beth Tikvah Congregation in Hoffman Estates; this project required the building of a deck for the rabbi and cantor to stand on to conduct religious services, as well as 6 large benches for members to sit; and

WHEREAS, He will receive the rank of Eagle Scout at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on March 4, 2012, at Beth Tikvah Congregation in Hoffman Estates; and

WHEREAS, Michael Goers serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Michael Goers on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and happiness in the future on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Michael Goers as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
