HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The growth in State and federal spending for Medicaid and welfare entitlements are significantly increasing budget costs; and

WHEREAS, The growth in Medicaid and welfare entitlement costs will not be controlled until Illinois has the ability to manage the programs to allow the residents of the State to benefit from the programs; and

WHEREAS, Block grants will allow Illinois to design and develop innovative, efficient, and productive Medicaid and welfare programs that will meet the needs of our residents; and

WHEREAS, The United States House of Representatives passed a budget which allows the federal government to give states block grants to pay for Medicaid and other welfare entitlements; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Illinois House of Representatives urges Congress to pass federal funds on to States via block grants to be used for public welfare and Medicaid purposes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the Governor and to each member of the Illinois Congressional delegation.
