HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Richard Lee Kraines for his long and distinguished career in medicine; and

WHEREAS, Richard Kraines was born on March 14, 1939, in Chicago; his parents are Samuel and Ruth Kraines; and

WHEREAS, Richard Kraines was a graduate of the Lab High School at the University of Chicago; he subsequently earned his bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Chicago in 1963; from 1963 to 1964, he participated in a rotating internship at the Illinois Research and Education Hospital; he then performed his residency in internal medicine at Michael Reese Hospital from 1964 to 1966 and his fellowship in hepatology at the New Jersey College of Medicine from 1966 to 1967; and

WHEREAS, Richard Kraines began his medical career in private practice in Highland Park, serving with Dr. Beryl Lovitz for 7 years; he then entered private practice by himself, serving at Highland Park Hospital for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Richard Kraines served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army from 1967 to 1969; he was honorably discharged at the rank of major; and

WHEREAS, Richard Kraines and his loving wife, Carol Kraines, have 2 sons, Michael (Katherine) and Jeffery (Kelly), and 2 grandchildren, Tyler and Logan; and

WHEREAS, Richard Kraines serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Richard Lee Kraines for his long and distinguished career in medicine, thank him for his dedication to his patients, and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Richard Kraines as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
