HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Shirley Nordigian of Wadsworth, who passed away on December 3, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She was born August 24, 1936 in North Chicago and remained a lifelong area resident; she was a member of St. Paul Armenian Apostolic Church and had been church treasurer; and

WHEREAS, She always prepared Sunday dinner for her family and loved to bake, known by family and friends as the "Cookie Grandma"; and

WHEREAS, She had worked in the office of Dr. Kweder for 18 years and had also been co-owner of Lanthans Front Room in Downtown Waukegan; she was involved in the family business, NORSTAN, and served as corporate secretary; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nordigian; her parents, Henry and Doris (nee Auger) Korybyski; her sisters, Helen Andrzejewski, Patricia Jones, Paula Mitten; and her son-in-law, Steve Munson; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Nordigian is survived by her children, former State Representative Ruth Munson, John (Deloris) Nordigian, Mark (Corinne) Nordigian, and Matt (Lori) Nordigian; her sister, Donna (Rich) Weland; her 16 grandchildren; and her 3 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Shirley Nordigian; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shirley Nordigian as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
