HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Dakota High School Girls Varsity Volleyball team on winning the Class 1A State championship; and

WHEREAS, Mt. Pulaski could not recover from a rough start to the match and Dakota needed only 2 games to beat the Mt. Pulaski Toppers, 25-16, 25-20 and capture the Class 1A State title; and

WHEREAS, After a Game 1 victory, the Indians (41-1) had to battle a little more in Game 2; they held a 7 point lead at 22-15 before the Toppers scored 4 straight to pull within 22-19; the Indians scored 3 of the last 4 points, the final coming on a kill from senior Jennifer Lane on a quick set from fellow senior Aleesha Cleaver to seal the victory and give the Indians their first State title; and

WHEREAS, The Varsity Coach is Shannon Williams; and the Varsity Assistant Coach is Tyler Benning; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Dakota Volleyball team are: Aleesha Cleaver, Rachel Buck, Jennifer Lane, Miranda Wells, Cora Fiene, Maycee Zettle, Ashley Goeke, Jaycee Cleaver, Alex Peterson, Eden Meier, Sarah Thompson, Kristi Ebbers, Alissa Dehaven, and Amanda Korte; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Dakota Indians on this impressive victory and a great season; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Dakota High School Girls Varsity Volleyball team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
