HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jacqueline Reed on the occasion of her retirement as President and Chief Executive Officer of Westside Health Authority; and

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed earned her master's degree in social service administration from the University of Chicago; she has over 35 years of experience in social work and many years of experience in community organizing; and

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed is the founder, President, and former Chief Executive Officer of Westside Health Authority, a 20-year-old community-based organization that seeks to build the capacity of local residents to improve their community by increasing access to quality health care, improve job and educational opportunities in order to create avenues for successful ex-offender reentry, and provide social, recreational, and academic activities for youth; Westside Health Authority's numerous programs, including its Every Block a Village initiative, have helped countless young people achieve their highest potential; and

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Chicago Community Trust Leadership Award, the University of Chicago Elizabeth Butler Alumni Award, the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation National Leadership Award, the Friends of Sheltered Children in Kenya - Humanitarian Award, the Adoption Worker of the Year Award, and the Chicago Commission on Human Relations Advisory Council on African Affairs Recognition Award; and

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed has served as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jacqueline Reed on the occasion of her retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jacqueline Reed as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
