HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Georgia Winson on
4her many accomplishments; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Georgia Winson has served with the Hope Institute
6for Children and Families since 2003 as chief administrator of
7the Autism Program of Illinois; she also serves as the vice
8president and chief clinician at the Hope Institute; and
 
9    WHEREAS, During her tenure at the Hope Institute, Georgia
10Winson diligently and selflessly supported families of
11children with autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities
12through numerous channels, including direct services,
13training, public policy, system development, and State and
14national outreach; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Georgia Winson fostered the creation and growth of
16the Autism Program of Illinois, the largest state-wide network
17of services in the country for the support of children with
18autism spectrum disorders; she worked alongside State and
19federal policymakers to ensure appropriate services and
20support for the growing population of children and adults with
21autism; and

1    WHEREAS, In addition to developing the system model for the
2Autism Program of Illinois, Georgia Winson convened the
3Intersect for Ability network, which comprises 11 agencies in
4Chicago that work in cooperation to improve the quality of life
5for adults with developmental disabilities and advocate for
6integrated community employment opportunities for adults of
7all abilities; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Through her leadership at the Hope Institute for
9Children and Families, Georgia Winson fostered the highest
10standards of treatment based on best practice and mentored a
11highly educated and caring staff, thereby providing an
12enriching environment for children with multiple disabilities
13to learn, grow, and develop into their best selves; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Because of her immense dedication and service to
15the disabled community in Illinois, Georgia Winson's
16contributions will continue to shape care, community
17involvement, and legislation for many future generations;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we congratulate Georgia Winson on her many accomplishments and
22wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it
