HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Georgia Winson on her many accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Winson has served with the Hope Institute for Children and Families since 2003 as chief administrator of the Autism Program of Illinois; she also serves as the vice president and chief clinician at the Hope Institute; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure at the Hope Institute, Georgia Winson diligently and selflessly supported families of children with autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities through numerous channels, including direct services, training, public policy, system development, and State and national outreach; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Winson fostered the creation and growth of the Autism Program of Illinois, the largest state-wide network of services in the country for the support of children with autism spectrum disorders; she worked alongside State and federal policymakers to ensure appropriate services and support for the growing population of children and adults with autism; and

WHEREAS, In addition to developing the system model for the Autism Program of Illinois, Georgia Winson convened the Intersect for Ability network, which comprises 11 agencies in Chicago that work in cooperation to improve the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities and advocate for integrated community employment opportunities for adults of all abilities; and

WHEREAS, Through her leadership at the Hope Institute for Children and Families, Georgia Winson fostered the highest standards of treatment based on best practice and mentored a highly educated and caring staff, thereby providing an enriching environment for children with multiple disabilities to learn, grow, and develop into their best selves; and

WHEREAS, Because of her immense dedication and service to the disabled community in Illinois, Georgia Winson's contributions will continue to shape care, community involvement, and legislation for many future generations; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Georgia Winson on her many accomplishments and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That an suitable copy of this resolution be provided to Georgia Winson as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
