HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to welcome United States Air Force Senior Airman Andrew Turner back to the United States and thank him for his service to our nation; and

WHEREAS, Senior Airman Turner is the son of Trustee Robert L. Turner and Gladys Turner of Calumet Park; he was born in Calumet Park, played T-Ball and Little League baseball in Calumet Park, attended Burr Oak School, and graduated from Calumet School; he played on the basketball team and graduated from Eisenhower High School with the class of 2002; he subsequently attended Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Senior Airman Turner was employed at the Calumet Park Recreation Center under the leadership of Trustee and Recreation Director Frank Snow for five years; and

WHEREAS, Senior Airman Turner serves as a military policeman with the 72nd Security Force Squadron of the United States Air Force; in January of 2007, he entered the Air Force and graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he also completed the Security Forces Apprentice Training Course; he was later stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and received additional training from the 99th Ground Combat Training Squadron Expeditionary Readiness Training at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada; and

WHEREAS, In 2009, Senior Airman Turner was deployed to Aldopha Air Force Base in Iraq, where he served until his tour was complete; after additional training, he was deployed in October of 2010 to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, where he served until sustaining an injury; and

WHEREAS, Senior Airman Turner is married to Staff Sergeant Tracy Gilmore Turner, who works in the medical field in the Air Force; he and his wife are both stationed at Tinker Air Force Base; and

WHEREAS, Senior Airman Turner serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we welcome United States Air Force Senior Airman Andrew Turner back to the United States and thank him for his service to our nation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Senior Airman Turner as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
