HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Amy Farmer Derick on the occasion of being named William Fremd High School's distinguished graduate for 2011; and

WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick is a 1994 graduate of William Fremd High School in Palatine; she is currently a board-certified dermatologist; and

WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick has published scholarly articles in the areas of vascular surgery and dermatology; she is the author of the dermatology chapter of the book, "The Ultimate Guide to Choosing a Medical Specialty", and the marketing chapter of the book, "Cosmetic Bootcamp Primer"; her pioneering research on body art has received global recognition and has been featured or discussed in The Wall Street Journal, on CNN, and on The View; and

WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick played an integral role in broadening awareness of the demographics and risks associated with the resurgence of body art; she served as a media resource for the American Academy of Dermatology and the Women's Dermatologic Society; she has also allowed high school students who are interested in the field of dermatology to shadow her during workdays at her business, Derick Dermatology in Barrington; and

WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick was recently named to the faculty of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine as a clinical instructor; she also serves on the Board of Directors of the Women's Dermatologic Society; and

WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick has achieved academic excellence in high school, graduate, and post graduate studies; and

WHEREAS, Amy Farmer Derick has served as a model of hard work, integrity, dedication, and success for the people of Northwest Cook County and the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Amy Farmer Derick on the occasion of being named William Fremd High School's distinguished graduate for 2011 and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Amy Farmer Derick as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
