HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Maureen Mulhall has been a massage therapist since
31984; and
 
4    WHEREAS, She has been a member of the American Massage
5Therapy Association since 1995; she began advocating for
6massage therapy licensure in 1996 at the behest of former
7Representative Beth Coulsen to protect the public while
8ensuring the integrity of the profession; and
 
9    WHEREAS, From 1996 to 2001, Maureen worked with members of
10the General Assembly and industry stakeholders to ensure
11legislation that would establish regulations that would not
12overly burden practitioners but ensure the health, safety, and
13welfare of massage therapy consumers; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Massage Licensing Act was enacted in 2003 in
15large part due to the tireless volunteer effort of Maureen; and
 
16    WHEREAS, In acknowledgment of her dedication to the welfare
17of the citizens of Illinois and her fellow massage therapists,
18Maureen received the first license issued by the Department of
19Financial and Professional Regulation in 2004; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The leadership, dedication, and fundamental

1understanding of good legislation demonstrated through the
2years of advocating for the profession led the Illinois Chapter
3of the American Massage Therapy Association to contract for
4Maureen's services in 2002; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we publicly recognize and commend the work of Maureen Mulhall
8and her 15 years of dedicated, selfless service to the massage
9therapy industry; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Maureen Mulhall as a symbol of our respect and
12esteem.
