HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation of the Harristown Christian Church on the church sesquicentennial; and

WHEREAS, The 150th anniversary of the church will be celebrated on April 10, 2011 at the church; and

WHEREAS, The church was formed on March 15, 1861 after the merger of two small Disciples congregations, the Miller's school congregation and the Berea congregation; and

WHEREAS, The building used by the Miller's school congregation was moved to accommodate the merger to a lot next to where the current church is located; and

WHEREAS, The structure was replaced in 1865 and again in December of 1917, when the current church was dedicated; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregation of the Harristown Christian Church and wish them all the best in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the congregation of the Harristown Christian Church as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
