HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor WLS-AM (890) hosts, Don & Roma Wade, as they step down from their morning show after 27 years; and

WHEREAS, The Don & Roma show historically has been one of the top franchises on WLS since 1985, and their ratings continue to be strong; they are the longest running morning drive team in Chicago; their many awards include Talker Magazine's Heavy Hitter 100, Local Radio Legends of America, and the Marconi Award; and

WHEREAS, Don was born in New York City, attended William & Mary College, and graduated from Boston University; among the cities he worked in before landing in Chicago were Philadelphia, Seattle, Buffalo, Dallas, and Denver; he is passionate, witty, conservative, and always opinionated about the political and social issues of the day; he thrives on exposing and debunking the media bias and spin; when he landed at WLS in 1985, he found a place where his opinions counted; WLS talk radio became the perfect vehicle for his dissection of politics, celebrities, and the media; and

WHEREAS, Roma, "The Voice of Reason", provides the thoughtful balance that drives Don mad; she earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Baylor University and attended Washington State University; she has taught university, community college, high school, and grade school (gifted children); she is a self-taught home remodeler and has taught kitchen remodeling and deck building; she is trained to teach yoga and meditation; she is a self-professed health nut and lover of all things spiritual and philosophical; and

WHEREAS, Don & Roma have been married since 1979; they have 2 children, Hunter, a U.S. Marine Lt. Col., who completed his master's degree at Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., has completed 4 Iraq & Afghanistan tours, and is a former Blue Angel, and Heather, who graduated with honors from the University of Washington in Seattle, is completing her final year in the prestigious MBA Executive program at NYU, and is a Global Event Planning Officer for CITI in New York City; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we are pleased to honor Don & Roma Wade as they step down as hosts of the WLS morning show after 27 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Don & Roma Wade as an expression of our esteem and respect.
