HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the tenure of our esteemed colleague, State Representative Dena M. Carli, and thank her for her dedicated service to the State of Illinois and her community; and

WHEREAS, Dena Carli was born and raised in the Back of the Yards community of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Representative Carli has dutifully served as an officer of the Chicago Police Department for 17 years and currently holds the rank of sergeant; and

WHEREAS, Representative Carli used her extensive experience and expertise in law enforcement to advocate for strong public safety laws, including laws to prevent the proliferation of gangs, protect victims, and crackdown on human trafficking; and

WHEREAS, Representative Carli has been a leader for the 1st Representative District, serving a multicultural district that includes many first-generation Americans who are striving to achieve the American dream; during her short time in office, Representative Carli has worked diligently to bring attention to the needs of local residents; and

WHEREAS, Representative Carli helped to pass significant legislation to benefit the Latino and Asian communities, specifically working for passage of the legislation creating the Illinois DREAM Fund and the Asian-American Employment Plan Advisory Council; and

WHEREAS, Representative Carli is a graduate of Saint Xavier University, where she earned a master's degree in business management with high honors; and

WHEREAS, Representative Carli attended Governors State University for a Masters in Public Administration and an undergraduate degree; she also participates in advancement courses at Northwestern University for Leadership in Public Safety; and

WHEREAS, Representative Carli is happily married to her husband, Dennis; they are the proud parents of 3 wonderful sons; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and thank State Representative Dena M. Carli for her dedicated service to the people of her district and to the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Carli as an expression of our respect and esteem with our best wishes for her future success.
