HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Ryan Pearce for his many
4accomplishments in sports; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In 2008, while Ryan Pearce was in the 7th grade,
6he won the 200-meter dash, shot put, and discus events at the
7IESA 7A State Track Meet in Peoria in May of 2008; in July of
82008, while competing at the USATF National Junior Olympics in
9Omaha, Nebraska, he placed 2nd in the discus event and placed
1010th in the shot put event; in January of 2009, Ryan Pearce
11competed with the Youth All American Football Bowl on the East
12Team in San Antonio, Texas; in May of 2009, he competed in the
13IESA 8A State Track Meet in Peoria, where he once again won the
14200-meter dash, shot put, and discus events; during this
15competition, he broke the State 8A shot put records with throws
16of (55'9.5" - shot put), and (175'2" - discus); and
 
17    WHEREAS, During his freshman year of high school, Ryan
18Pearce achieved a 1st place victory in the discus event at the
192010 Area Best Track Meet in Decatur; that same year, he
20competed in the IHSA 1A State Track Meet in Charleston, where
21he competed in both the shot put and discus events and finished
2210th overall in shot; he was also the Track MVP at Villa Grove
23High School; and

1    WHEREAS, During his sophomore year of high school, Ryan
2Pearce placed 4th in shot put and 6th in discus at the IHSA 1A
3State Track Meet in Charleston; he once again was named Track
4MVP at Villa Grove High School; and
 
5    WHEREAS, During his junior year of high school, Ryan Pearce
6was a Class 1A 2011 All State Honorable Mention, a 1st Team
7All-Conference Running Back, and a 1st Team All-Conference
8Defensive Linebacker; he received the Villa Grove High School
9Tackle and MVP awards in football; he played on the 2011
10Hayden's Classic All-Tournament Basketball Team and was
11All-Conference in basketball, receiving the Greger Award, and
12in track that same year; he placed first in the 4x100, 4x200,
13shot put, and discus events at the Little Okaw Valley All
14Conference Meet; he placed 1st in shot put event at the
15Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor State Meet in Bloomington; at
16the News-Gazette All Area Meet in Champaign, he placed 1st in
17the shot put event and 2nd in the discus event; after an
18impressive showing at the track sectionals, he competed in the
19IHSA 1A State Track Meet in Charleston, where he placed 2nd in
20the shot put event and became the State Champion in the discus
21event; and
 
22    WHEREAS, During his senior year, Ryan Pearce culminated in
23his appearance at the 2012 USATF National Junior Olympics in

1Baltimore, Maryland, where he placed 18th overall in the shot
2put event and 11th overall in the discus event; and
 
3    WHEREAS, In 2012, Ryan Pearce broke the Villa Grove High
4School record of most points scored in one football game with
548, beating the former record of 42 points from 1955; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ryan Pearce has been the recipient of numerous
7awards for his sports achievements, including the WIXY Athlete
8of the Week award in 2011 and 2012, the VGHS Tackle Award, the
9VGHS MVP Award, the VGHS Spirit Award, and the Greger Award;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ryan Pearce serves as a model of hard work,
12integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
13Illinois; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we honor Ryan Pearce for his many accomplishments and wish him
17continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Ryan Pearce as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
