HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Illinois State University senior, Tim Glover, on his Redbirds' athletic career; and

WHEREAS, Tim Glover began his college track and field career during the 2009-2010 season; he recorded 5 first-place finishes in the javelin as a freshman, finished 1st at the SIU Spring Classic in the javelin, finished 5th at the Sea Ray Relays in the javelin, and finished 1st in 3-straight meets in the javelin, including a career-best throw and a new school record at the MVC Championships for All-Valley honors; he qualified for the NCAA West Regional in the javelin where he finished 3rd, and he advanced to the NCAA Championships finishing 12th; he qualified for the 2010 USA Outdoor National Championships; and

WHEREAS, Tim Glover continued his list of impressive feats with the javelin during the 2010-2011 season; he won the 2011 NCAA National Championship in the javelin, earned All-American honors, finished 1st in 4 meets, including the MVC Outdoor Championships for All-Valley honors, was named Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the MVC Outdoor Championships, and broke the MVC and all-time records in the javelin; he broke his career-best mark 3 times throughout the season; he achieved the top collegiate throw in the nation that year, was named 2010-2011 ISU Athlete of the Year, and qualified for the 2011 USA National Outdoor Championship, where he finished as the top collegiate athlete and 6th overall; and

WHEREAS, Tim Glover's athletic endeavors with the javelin during the 2011-2012 year consisted of winning his 2nd-straight NCAA Division I National Title, earning All-American honors in the process; he was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Male Field Athlete of the Year; he was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year; he improved his already standing Missouri Valley Conference and Illinois State records in the javelin, took gold at the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Under-23 Championships, qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon, and won his 3rd-straight Missouri Valley Conference title, earning Valley honors; he was named Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship, won the Tony Wilson Award at the Sea Relays for the Most Outstanding Male Field Athlete of the meet, and was named by the Missouri Valley Conference as the Athlete of the Week for April 10-17; and

WHEREAS, Tim Glover started his athletic career at University High School; he ranked first at the Pantagraph Honor Roll Meet in discus, recorded a career-best throw in the shot put, was a 3-time USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships National Champion in the javelin, and was a member of a golf team that won 3 straight titles; and

WHEREAS, Tim Glover is the son of Rob and Barb Glover and brother to Lindsey; he is majoring in industrial engineering at ISU; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Illinois State University senior Tim Glover, on his impressive Redbird career with the javelin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Tim Glover as an expression of our respect and esteem.
