HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ray
4Urbans; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was born in 1914, in Biron, Wisconsin;
6in 1946, he moved with his wife and children to the Chicago
7area; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was a high school teacher of geometry
9and college algebra; he also coached basketball and football;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was an active civic leader; he served
12as Trustee in Westchester for 20 years and as Mayor of the
13Village of Westchester for 4 years; he served on the
14Broadview-Westchester Water Commission for 30 years and on the
15Proviso Township Mental Health Commission for 17 years; as a
16youth advocate, he was one of the founders of Little League
17Baseball in Bellwood and Westchester; he also served on the
18York Township Senior Advisory Committee for 12 years; during
19his tenure, he was a driving force on the committee and was
20instrumental in scheduling guest speakers and special events
21for the senior citizens of York Township Senior Center; and

1    WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was a past Post Commander of the
2American Legion and a long-time officer of the Kiwanis Club; he
3also organized numerous cooperative endeavors and
4public-spirited projects; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was preceded in death by his wife; his
63 sisters; and his brother; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ray Urbans was the beloved husband of the late
8Anne; the devoted father of Raylene J. (Marcus) Cassidy and M.
9Bruce (Barbara); the dear grandfather of Chris (Dave) Wheeler,
10Scott (Jen) McGonigal, and Bonnie Urbans; and the
11great-grandfather of 3; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Ray
15Urbans; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Ray Urbans as an expression of our
18sympathy.
