HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the residents of Glen Ellyn on the occasion of the village being named one of the top 100 Best Places to Live in 2011 by Money Magazine; and

WHEREAS, The Village of Glen Ellyn is located 23 miles west of Chicago and is one of the area's premier suburbs; and

WHEREAS, Glen Ellyn is known as the Village of Volunteers for its small-town charm and sense of civic pride; many organizations, churches, and volunteer groups make up the fabric of the community of 27,000 residents; and

WHEREAS, In addition to its many local shops and restaurants, Glen Ellyn is situated around beautiful Lake Ellyn, once a renowned vacation destination, and features many natural sights, including 29 parks, the Willowbrook Wildlife Preserve, the Village Links Golf Course, and access to the Illinois Prairie Path; and

WHEREAS, Glen Ellyn is well known for its excellent educational opportunities, including Glenbard West High School and Glenbard South High School, which rank among the best high schools in the State, and the College of DuPage, one of the largest community college campuses in the United States; and

WHEREAS, The residents of Glen Ellyn serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the residents of Glen Ellyn on the occasion of the village being named one of the top 100 Best Places to Live in 2011 by Money Magazine and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Glen Ellyn Village Manager Mark Franz as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
