HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Lake Park High School Boys Track and Field team on winning its 3rd straight (and 4th overall) IHSA 3A State Championship on May 26, 2012; and

WHEREAS, The All State athletes for the team are: Scott Filip, who placed 7th in the high jump, 5th in the long jump, 7th in the triple jump, and 6th in 4 x 100 relay; Kevin Spejcher, who placed 4th in the High Jump; Shawn Koch, who placed 2nd in the triple jump; Tim Ehrhardt, who placed 5th in the pole vault; Derrick Smith, who placed 7th in the pole vault; Per Johnson, who placed 7th in the discus; and Marcus Jegede, who placed 4th in the long jump and 6th in the 4 x 100 relay; and

WHEREAS, The team finished the 4 x 800 relay in 8th place, with Jeremy Lozano, Eric Dade, Dakota Morales, and Kevin Jorgensen running; the team finished the 4 x 100 relay in 6th place, with Mike Amerlan, Demetri Alimissis, Scott Filip, and Marcus Jegede running for the school; and

WHEREAS, Other State qualifiers included Scott Karlis in the discus; 4 x 800 relay alternates were Andy Birkley, Lucas Bracher, Connor Peck, and Alex Kessler; and 4 x 100 relay alternates were Vince Puzon, Joe Pierce, Shawn Koch, and Gio Basso; and

WHEREAS, Tim Ehrhardt, Alex Kessler, Dakota Morales, Kevin Jorgensen, Scott Filip, Andy Birkley, Lucas Bracher, and Per Johnson were also named "Academic All Conference" for the UpState 8 Conference; Tim Ehrhardt, Alex Kessler, Dakota Morales, and Kevin Jorgensen are all National Honor Society members; Alex Kessler was also named as a National Merit Finalist; and

WHEREAS, Team Coaches are Head Coach Jay Ivory; and Assistant Coaches Bob Nihells, Tom Kaberna, Doug Juraska, Lance Murphy, and Eddie Eisman Jr.; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lake Park High School Boys Track and Field team and wish them all the best in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lake Park High School Boys Track and Field team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
