HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United States Army Private First Class Adam Dobereiner of Moline, who was killed in the line of duty on November 18, 2011, in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, PFC Adam Dobereiner was born on November 21, 1989, in Rock Island; his parents were Christopher and Lee Ann Smith Dobereiner; and

WHEREAS, PFC Adam Dobereiner graduated from Moline High School in 2008; while at Moline High School, he participated in wrestling, football and building trades; he subsequently enrolled as a student at Black Hawk College; and

WHEREAS, Following a long line of family military service, PFC Adam Dobereiner enlisted in the United States Army in 2010 and graduated training as a combat engineer; he was deployed to Afghanistan on July 6, 2011; he chose to enlist as a combat engineer because he wanted to build things and enjoyed building things for other people on the weekends as a young man; and

WHEREAS, PFC Adam Dobereiner was preceded in death by his aunt, Beth Smith; his uncle, Stephen Dobereiner; his great-uncles, Pete Hantz Jr. and Stanley Hantz; and his great-grandparents, Pete Hantz Sr., Troy and Lorraine Huff, Alven and Margaret Dobereiner, and Ida and Herbert Smith; and

WHEREAS, PFC Adam Dobereiner is survived by his mother, Lee Ann Dobereiner; his father, Christopher Dobereiner; his siblings, Christopher Lorenz (Kelly) Dobereiner II, Helen Teresa (Marty) Dobereiner-Durbin, and Ann Marie Dobereiner; his nieces and nephews, Conner, Addison, Alayna, Marlee, and Ariana; his grandparents, Don and Helen Smith, Larry and Vicki Dobereiner, and William and Linda Blackwell; his great-grandparents, Leota Hantz and Ivan and Joan Overton; and his uncles and aunts, Pete and Terri Smith, Tim and Elizabeth Krahl, Steven and Jennifer Thomas, Chris and MaryJo Thomas, and Mark Thomas; and

WHEREAS, PFC Adam Dobereiner's patriotism and courage will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of United States Army Private First Class Adam Dobereiner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of PFC Adam Dobereiner as an expression of our sympathy.
