HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Peoria Municipal Band was started on June 15, 1937 through the efforts of Local 26 of the American Federation of Musicians and interested citizens; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dave Vroman has led the band for the past 21 years; at every performance, a given portion of his selections are chosen to stretch the audience participants in the appreciation of all types of music; and

WHEREAS, The Peoria Municipal Band is renowned for its ability to play an amazing variety of music; more than 500 selections are made each season to be played to an audience of thousands, including Sousa marches, jazz, musical scores from movies, songs from Broadway musicals, and salutes to our veterans; and

WHEREAS, Most of the 50 band members are from the greater Peoria area, with the exception of one individual that travels to and from Iowa to play with this exceptional gathering of talented musicians; and

WHEREAS, In celebration of the band's 75th anniversary, the Peoria Municipal Band is performing in a new location for all Wednesday evening concerts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. David Vroman and the members of the Peoria Municipal Band on the occasion of the band's 75th anniversary of providing entertainment to the Peoria community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Peoria Municipal Band as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
