1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5changing Section 7f as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/7f)  (from Ch. 144, par. 28f)
7    Sec. 7f. Partial tuition waivers.
8    (a) As used in this Section: ,
9    "Employee" means an employee of an Illinois college or
10university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this
11Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is
12applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual
13household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under
14this Section is granted.
15    "Illinois college or university" means any of the
16following: the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois
17University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois
18University, Governors State University, Illinois State
19University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern
20Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
21    "Veteran" means an Illinois resident who has served as a
22member of the United States Armed Forces on active duty or
23State active duty, a member of the Illinois National Guard, or

1a member of the United States Reserve Forces and who has
2received an honorable discharge.
3    (b) Each year the Board of Trustees of the University of
4Illinois shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate
5education at any campus under its governance or supervision to
6the children of employees of an Illinois college or university
7who have been employed by any one or by more than one Illinois
8college or university for an aggregate period of at least 7
9years. To be eligible to receive a partial tuition waiver, the
10child of an employee of an Illinois college or university (i)
11must be under the age of 25 at the commencement of the academic
12year during which the partial tuition waiver is to be
13effective, and (ii) must qualify for admission to the
14University of Illinois under the same admissions requirements,
15standards and policies which the University of Illinois applies
16to applicants for admission generally to its respective
17undergraduate colleges and programs.
18    (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
19(b), an eligible applicant who has continued to maintain
20satisfactory academic progress toward graduation may have his
21or her partial tuition waiver renewed until the time as he or
22she has expended 4 years of undergraduate partial tuition
23waiver benefits under this Section.
24    (d) No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated to any
25eligible applicant in accordance with the provisions of this
26Section shall be charged against any tuition waiver limitation

2    (e) The Board of Trustees shall prescribe rules and
3regulations as are necessary to implement and administer the
4provisions of this Section.

6    Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
7Act is amended by changing Section 8f as follows:

12university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this

16this Section is granted.
17    "Illinois college or university" means any of the
18following: the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois
19University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois

21University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern
22Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
23    "Veteran" means an Illinois resident who has served as a

14university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this
15Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is
16applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual
17household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under
18this Section is granted.
19    "Illinois college or university" means any of the
20following: the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois
21University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois
22University, Governors State University, Illinois State

12a partial tuition waiver, the child of an employee of an
13Illinois college or university (i) must be under the age of 25
14at the commencement of the academic year during which the
15partial tuition waiver is to be effective, and (ii) must
16qualify for admission to Eastern Illinois University under the
17same admissions requirements, standards and policies which
18Eastern Illinois University applies to applicants for
19admission generally to its respective undergraduate colleges
20and programs.
21    (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
22(b), an eligible applicant who has continued to maintain
23satisfactory academic progress toward graduation may have his
24or her partial tuition waiver renewed until the time as he or
25she has expended 4 years of undergraduate partial tuition

1    (d) No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated to any
2eligible applicant in accordance with the provisions of this
3Section shall be charged against any tuition waiver limitation

14Illinois college or university (i) must be under the age of 25

16partial tuition waiver is to be effective, and (ii) must
17qualify for admission to Governors State University under the
18same admissions requirements, standards and policies which
19Governors State University applies to applicants for admission
20generally to its respective undergraduate colleges and
21programs.
22    (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
23(b), an eligible applicant who has continued to maintain
24satisfactory academic progress toward graduation may have his
25or her partial tuition waiver renewed until the time as he or

17university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this
18Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is

21this Section is granted.
22    "Illinois college or university" means any of the

20under the same admissions requirements, standards and policies
21which Northeastern Illinois University applies to applicants
22for admission generally to its respective undergraduate
23colleges and programs.
24    (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
25(b), an eligible applicant who has continued to maintain

3waiver benefits under this Section.

18university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this
19Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is
20applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual
21household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under
22this Section is granted.
23    "Illinois college or university" means any of the

14by changing Section 35-90 as follows:

19university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this
20Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is
21applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual
22household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under
23this Section is granted.

14    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect September
