SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that, as an alternative to
mailing a copy of the bill, the collector may send tax bills via e-mail at
the request of the taxpayer.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
The Property Tax Code is amended by changing
Section 20-5 as follows:
(35 ILCS 200/20-5)
Mailing tax bill to owner.

county collector in cases where there is
no township collector, upon receiving
the tax book or books,
shall prepare tax bills showing each installment of
taxes assessed, which shall be filled out in accordance with
20-40. A copy of the bill shall be mailed by the
collector, at least 30 days
prior to the date upon which unpaid
taxes become delinquent, to the owner of
the property taxed or
to the person in whose name the property is taxed.

notify the collector of any change in his or her e-mail address
as soon as possible after the address is changed.
