SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/5-16.7

Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that in addition to post-parturition care, the medical assistance program shall provide not less than 60 days of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during their pregnancy with gestational diabetes, and that this follow-up care shall include testing for continuing diabetes.

AN ACT concerning public aid.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by changing Section 5-16.7 as follows:

(305 ILCS 5/5-16.7)

Sec. 5-16.7. Post-parturition care. The medical assistance program shall provide the post-parturition care benefits required to be covered by a policy of accident and health insurance under Section 356s of the Illinois Insurance Code. Additionally, the program shall provide not less than 60 days of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during their pregnancy with gestational diabetes. This follow-up care shall include testing for continuing diabetes.
