1     AN ACT concerning local government.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5 changing Section 3 as follows:

6     (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7     Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8 vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 19 members selected
9 as follows: The Attorney General of the State of Illinois, the
10 Director of State Police, the Director of Corrections, the
11 Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, the Sheriff of
12 Cook County, the Director of the Illinois Police Training
13 Institute, the Special Agent in Charge of the Springfield,
14 Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
15 Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, ~~the Executive~~
16 ~~Director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education~~ and the
17 following to be appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or village
18 presidents of Illinois municipalities, 2 Illinois county
19 sheriffs from counties other than Cook County, 2 managers of
20 Illinois municipalities, 3 chiefs of municipal police
21 departments in Illinois having no Superintendent of the Police
22 Department on the Board and 2 citizens of Illinois who shall be
23 members of an organized enforcement officers' association

1 which has no other members on the Board other than the chief of
2 a municipal police department, the Special Agent of the Federal
3 Bureau of Investigation, the Director of State Police, a county
4 sheriff or deputy sheriff. The appointments of the Governor
5 shall be made on the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of
6 the appointments to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years,
7 and 3 for 3 years. Their successors shall be appointed in like
8 manner for terms to expire the first Monday of August each 3
9 years thereafter. All members shall serve until their
10 respective successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies
11 shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms.
