1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 19 members selected
9as follows: The Attorney General of the State of Illinois, the
10Director of State Police, the Director of Corrections, the
11Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, the Sheriff of
12Cook County, the Director of the Illinois Police Training
13Institute, the Special Agent in Charge of the Springfield,
14Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
15Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, the Executive
16Director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the
17following to be appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or village
18presidents of Illinois municipalities, 2 Illinois county
19sheriffs from counties other than Cook County, 2 managers of
20Illinois municipalities, 3 chiefs of municipal police
21departments in Illinois having no Superintendent of the Police
22Department on the Board and 2 citizens of Illinois who shall be
23members of an organized enforcement officers' association

1which has no other members on the Board other than the chief of
2a municipal police department, the Special Agent of the Federal
3Bureau of Investigation, the Director of State Police, a county
4sheriff or deputy sheriff. The appointments of the Governor
5shall be made on the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of
6the appointments to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years,
7and 3 for 3 years. Their successors shall be appointed in like
8manner for terms to expire the first Monday of August each 3
9years thereafter. All members shall serve until their
10respective successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies
11shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms.
