1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 12-713 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/12-713)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-713)
7    Sec. 12-713. Commercial trucks used by construction
8contractors or subcontractors to display company name.
9    (a) Every second division vehicle operating commercially
10in this State that is used by a construction contractor or
11subcontractor shall display on the side of the vehicle or its
12trailer the name of the company for which it is employed. The
13name shall be in letters at least 2 inches tall and one-half
14inch wide. This Section shall not apply to any motor vehicle
15upon which is affixed the insignia required under Section
1618c-4701 of the Illinois Commercial Transportation Law.
17    (b) Any person convicted of violating this Section shall be
18guilty of a petty offense and subject to a fine of not less
19than $500.
20    (c) This Section may be enforced by code enforcement
21officials employed by units of local government while the
22vehicle is being used on a worksite located within the
23boundaries of the local jurisdiction. If an alleged violation

1of this Section has been corrected prior to or on the date of a
2hearing scheduled to adjudicate the alleged violation, the code
3enforcement official shall dismiss the violation. For purposes
4of this Section, "code enforcement official" means an officer
5or other designated authority charged with the administration,
6interpretation, and enforcement of codes on behalf of a
7municipality or county.

9    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
10becoming law.
