SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2505/2505-755 new

Amends the Department of Revenue Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department shall make certain information concerning occupation tax proceeds available to municipalities upon request.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Revenue Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section 2505-755 as follows:

Sec. 2505-755. Municipal report. The Department shall make available to any municipality of the State, upon request of the corporate authorities of the municipality, information concerning proceeds collected from businesses located within that municipality under the Retailers' Occupation Tax Act, the Service Occupation Tax Act, or as a result of any occupation tax imposed by the municipality and administered by the Department. The Department is authorized to release the name of the business and the total amount collected from that business in the 12 calendar months immediately preceding the date of the request as a result of sales occurring in the municipality. The information must be presented to the municipality within 15 days after the date of the request. The municipality may use the information only for its official purposes and may not make the information available to the public.
