SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

70 ILCS 1205/8-10c new

Amends the Park District Code. Provides that, if a park district builds a new playground, the playground area and surface must meet the standards for playgrounds contained in the United States Department of Justice's 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design or any subsequent publication to those standards on accessible design by the Department of Justice.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Park District Code is amended by adding Section 8-10c as follows:

(70 ILCS 1205/8-10c new)

Sec. 8-10c. Accessible parks. If a park district builds a new playground, the playground area and surface must meet the standards for playgrounds contained in the United States Department of Justice's 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design or any subsequent publication to those standards on accessible design by the Department of Justice.
