SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of María Laura Morales of Oak Lawn, who
4passed away on July 13, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, María Morales was born to Maria Valcarcel and
6Quintino Matias in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on July 31, 1953;
7she moved to Chicago at a young age and grew up in the West
8Town/Wicker Park community; she graduated from Tuley High
9School in 1971; she married Norberto Morales in 1973; and
 
10    WHEREAS, María Morales was known for her infectious
11energy, passion, boisterous personality, and being the life of
12the party; she was welcoming and filled her home with warmth
13and kindness, making others feel like they were part of the
14family; she spent years as a volunteer at the Family Learning
15Center; when not at home, she enjoyed camping at Fish Lake
16Beach; and
 
17    WHEREAS, María Morales loved her family deeply, making
18many sacrifices to support them; she also loved her best
19friend, Pat Colon, immensely; she will be greatly missed; and
 
20    WHEREAS, María Morales was preceded in death by her
21parents, Quintino and Maria Matias, and her sister, Clara; and

1    WHEREAS, At the time of her death, María Morales was
2survived by her husband, Norberto Morales; her daughters,
3Marisol Morales and Linnette Marie Morales; her grandsons,
4Diego Morales Arteaga, Sebastian Wilson, and Lucas Wilson; her
5sisters, Ramonita, Flora, and Elizabeth; her brothers,
6Gilbert, Samuel, William, Danny, Eli, and John; and a host of
7nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10María Laura Morales and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of María Morales as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
