SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of United States Marine Corps Corporal Christopher J. Boyd, formerly of Palatine, who was killed in the line of duty on August 19, 2010, while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, out of Camp Pendleton, California; and

WHEREAS, He was a 2006 graduate of Palatine High School in Palatine, where he played football and lacrosse and wrestled for the high school wrestling team; and

WHEREAS, He received a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal during his time of service; and

WHEREAS, United States Marine Corps Corporal Christopher J. Boyd is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Patricia Boyd; his wife, Danielle; and their twin sons, Jack and Evan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of United States Marine Corps Corporal Christopher J. Boyd; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Marine Corps Corporal Christopher J. Boyd and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of United States Marine Corporal Christopher J. Boyd as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
