SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gregory Lynn Jones of Waukegan, who passed away on July 19, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Lynn Jones was born in Waukegan on October 5, 1954; he was the fourth child born to the late Raymond and Hattie B. Jones; in April of 1976, he, along with his family, confessed his belief in Christ while attending Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Waukegan under the leadership of the late Reverend Jonathan N. Lightfoot; and

WHEREAS, As a young person, Greg played the clarinet and enjoyed playing board and card games with his family and traveling to places such as Las Vegas; New York; Washington, D.C.; the Carolinas; and the Bahamas; he also loved listening to "old school" music and attending concerts given by his favorite performer, Diana Ross; and

WHEREAS, He was a 1972 graduate of Waukegan Township High School; after graduation, he was hired by the City of Waukegan as an animal warden, and it was during this time that he developed his love for dogs; he also worked at Baxter Laboratories for many years until the company reorganized; prior to his passing, he was employed by the Brown Paper Goods Company in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Jessie Mae Jones; his maternal grandparents, Pascal and Della Johnson; his parents, Raymond and Hattie Jones; his nephew, Taree Jones; and his brother, Ronald Jones; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Jones is survived by his sisters, Donna M. Jones, Jennifer D. Jones, and Andra C. Jones; he was uncle to Bryan P. Jones and great uncle to Brinn E. Jones; treasured memories of his life are left to his great uncle and aunt Ezra and Sara Banks, aunt Irene Jones, and uncle Willie Johnson; to celebrate his life, Greg leaves a host of cousins, many other relatives and friends, and close friend Barbara Lopez; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Gregory Jones; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gregory Jones as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
