SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Abe Mallory, who passed away on January
4 30, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Abe Mallory was born on March 2, 1921, in Waldo,
6 Arkansas; his parents were Alex Mallory and Rossie Edwards
7 Mallory; he married the love of his life, Lillie Stancil, in
8 1946; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Abe Mallory attended Argo Public Schools; shortly
10 after high school, he enlisted in the United States Army,
11 serving from October 15, 1942 until his honorable discharge on
12 January 25, 1946; he was a recipient of the Purple Heart for
13 his service; and
 
14     WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Army, Abe Mallory
15 returned to Argo; he was employed at Corn Products
16 International for many years until his retirement; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Abe Mallory was a member of the Argo Temple Church
18 of God in Christ at an early age; in 1971, he moved to
19 Winnfield, Louisiana and joined the Oak Ridge Baptist Church
20 with his uncle, Coca Edwards, and his cousin, Karey "Jack"
21 Hollingsworth; and

1     WHEREAS, Abe Mallory was preceded in death by his parents
2 and his sisters, Bertha Mallory Delane (James), Mary Mallory
3 Swift (Leroy), and Ernestine Mallory Tolbert (James); and
 
4     WHEREAS, Abe Mallory is survived by his daughter, Lona; his
5 son-in-law, JW; his grandson, Marcellus; and his many nieces,
6 nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 his family and friends, the passing of Abe Mallory; and be it
10 further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Abe Mallory as an expression of our
13 sympathy.
