SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur R. Sullivan Jr., who passed away on February 20, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. was born on September 11, 1916, in Akron, Ohio; his parents were the late Arthur R. and Marie Violet Sullivan; he married Norma Catherine Dymond on June 21, 1941; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. graduated from Cathedral Latin High School; he served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army with Company C of the 6th Armored Division during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. lived in Cleveland, Ohio until 1970, when he moved to Wellington, Ohio; from 2008 to 2009, he lived at St. Augustine Manor in Peoria, near his daughter, Nora; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. was employed as a millwright for many years; his last position was with the City of Cleveland, where he worked until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wellington; he was proud to have served as President of the Northwest Deanery of the Holy Name Society and the Lourdes Academy Father's Club; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, spending time at his small "farm" in Wellington, clearing paths in the woods, and making park-like settings for walks in the woods; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; his grandsons, Patrick Bryk and Michael Sullivan; and his siblings, Robert, Jeanne Forsgren, Joseph O'Sullivan, Thomas, Geraldine Mullen, Raymond, and Kevin; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Sullivan Jr. is survived by his children, Arthur III, Mary Bryk, Nora (David) Koehler, Rae, Theresa (David) Schramm, and Dan (Terri Meadows); his grandchildren, Jennifer Bryk (Adam) Hechko, Jackie Bryk, Jaime Bryk (Britt) Vanchura, Josie Bryk, Jodie Bryk, Kate Koehler (Jay) Pastucha, Maggie Sullivan Koehler, Lilly Sullivan Koehler, Peter David Schramm, Jacob Schramm, Andrew Schramm, and Wesley Meadows; his great-grandchildren, Caroline, John, and Elizabeth Vanchura, Alexander Hechko, Christian Maynard, and Georgia and Amelia Pastucha; his siblings, Loretta Demaline, Larry Sullivan, Richard Sullivan, and Noreen Sulzer; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Arthur R. Sullivan Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur Sullivan Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
