SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alicia Ann (Tish) Mercer of Chicago, who passed away on September 28, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born on August 31, 1950 to Alvin and Vivian Mercer; she was educated in the Chicago Public Schools, and attended Northwestern University; and

WHEREAS, Her early employment included disc jockeying at Northwestern, managing her own modeling agency, and doing voice-over work and hand commercials with various advertisers; she worked with mentors at the City of Chicago (Eugene Barnes) and the State of Illinois (former Senate President Emil Jones); she later worked as a human resources director with the Chicago Housing Authority; and lastly with her own company, ATM Global Resources; and

WHEREAS, She was a faithful servant of God and an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ for many years; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Mercer; and

WHEREAS, Alicia Ann (Tish) Mercer is survived by her mother, Vivian; her sisters, Debbie, Pamela, and Cynthia; her brothers, Halahiel (Gregory)/ (Cocaveh), Archie (Marsha), and Andre (Joy); her niece, Traci Mercer-Hall (Dwayne); her aunt and uncle, Aleda and Cornelius Goodwin; her cousins, William, Brian, and Ahjae; her nephews, Robbie (Hope), LeCean, Timothy, Aaron, Dontrel, and Christopher; her grand-nieces, Karcyn, Kennydi, and Azariah; her grand-nephews, Joshua, Nicholas, and Zachary; a host of nieces and nephews in Israel; and her friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Alicia Ann (Tish) Mercer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Alicia Ann (Tish) Mercer as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
