SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James B. Knott of Mascoutah, who passed away on July 15, 2009; and

WHEREAS, James Knott was born on April 30, 1942 in Champaign; his parents were Hiram and Marian Knott; he married Patricia M. Wickham on July 10, 1966 in Enterprise; and

WHEREAS, James Knott served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, James Knott retired after serving as a teacher and athletic director at Mascoutah Community High School from 1972 to 1997; he also served as the PGA golf professional at Far Oaks Golf Club in Fairview Heights, where he was known as one of the top teaching pros in the area and had many loyal students; and

WHEREAS, James Knott was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Mascoutah and the Anthony Doherty Masonic Lodge 1111 in Cisne; and

WHEREAS, James Knott was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, James Knott is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Jodi (Eric) Knott-Zilafro; his grandchildren, Allison, Alex, and Luke Zilafro; his brother, Jack (Barbara) Knott; his brother-in-law, Tom (Linda) Wickham; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of James B. Knott; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Knott as an expression of our sympathy.
