SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel Edward Costello Jr. of Belleville, who passed away on June 20, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born on April 17, 1937, in East St. Louis; he lived the first 18 years of his life in East St. Louis; he graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas on baseball and basketball scholarships; there the "St. Mary Star" met his "San Antonio Rose," Darlene Handley, and they were married September 5, 1959; and

WHEREAS, He lived the next 25 years in San Antonio as a devout and active member of the Catholic Church; he was President and CEO of Ventura Manufacturing in the 1980s; and

WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, he lived in Belleville, surrounded by his loving brothers and sisters; he was employed by the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council in St. Louis, Missouri; he loved a good joke and Notre Dame; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Edward and Elsie, nee Moore, Costello Sr.; and his brother, Joseph Edward Costello; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Costello Jr. is survived by his son, Daniel Martin (Alina) Costello; his two daughters, Deborah (George) Gaytan and Susan Costello; his seven grandchildren, Ryan, John, Ana, and Rose Costello, Audrey Gaytan, and Kaela and Kelsey Lipo; his loving sisters, Delores (Julio) Gonzalez and Pat Lindsay; his two brothers, Michael T. Costello and United States Congressman Jerry F. (Georgia) Costello; his sister-in-law, Judy Costello; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Daniel Costello Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Daniel Costello Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
